Linchmere/Marley.

1. From Haslemere en voiture take the road to Liphook (B2070). Take the first signed left turn to Linchmere. After about 1/3rd of a mile you come upon some unofficial lay-bys right and left. Park there and go left along a wide track. Not far from the road take a left-hand path, and follow it until you reach a T-junction. Turn left, and at the end turn right.
2. This takes you along some houses on the left, and at the last house bear right. Follow the path and take the first left-hand path. This takes you past some woodcutting operations. At the end of that track turn right.
3. When you get to a choice between going right or half left, go left, and when you reach a T-junction turn right. This takes you up to some houses where you turn left, and keep going with the road on your left. You will eventually come out onto the road, but go off it again at the first opportunity to the right.
4. Follow the path and take the first marked right hand turn down to the bottom of the hill. At the bottom turn right and just keep going straight. Just before you start climbing again, you will see a large house on your left. Just before the tarmac road at the top of the hill, take a right hand turn and follow that straight to an X-road.
5. Straight over the X-road until you reach a wider path, then turn left. This takes you back to your car.

As an interesting aside, Linchmere is also spelt Lynchmere. I was told that the former was a Surrey spelling and the latter a Sussex spelling!
