Well Lane/Holdfast

1. Start in the middle of Haslemere, opposite the Georgian Hotel, Well Lane, scene of Haslemere’s drinking water many centuries ago. Proceed down the lane, then bear right and you reach a very impressive modern kissing gate (MKG). Through that and up the hill to Collards Lane. Turn left and take the first MKG to the left.
2. Down to the bottom of the field, into the wood, and bear left up the hill. The path swings to the right, crosses a stream, then bears left. Just keep going until you reach Holdfast Lane.
3. Turn left past houses until you reach a stile on the left, follow this up the hill, down then up again. You are now passing Grayswood Hill gardens on your right. Under a bridge, and down onto the road. Turn left and follow the road, keeping straight, ignoring a road to the right, which would take you onto the Grayswood Road.
4. This leads down into Three Gates Lane, where you then go right to reach the Grayswood Road/A286. Well Lane is then left down the road, on the left.
5. There is quite a lot of roadwork on this walk, but these roads are minor and relatively quiet and peaceful.
